ASSESSMENT OF THE USAGE OF NEW TECHNOLOGIES IN THE TEACHING AND LEARNING OF BUSINESS EDUCATION PROGRAMME IN COLLEGES OF EDUCATION IN DELTA STATE

Abstract


This study was designed to assess the usage of new technologies in the teaching and learning of business education programme in Delta State colleges of education. Three research questions were raised to guide the study and a hypothesis tested at 0.05 level of significance. The population of the study comprised 144 respondents who are business education lecturers from all colleges of education in Delta State. Data for the study were collected by means of a structured questionnaire. The reliability of the validated questionnaire was 0.84 which was done using Pearson’s product moment correlation coefficient. Mean and t-test were used to analyze the data. The result of the data analysis
showed serious inadequacy of funding and non utilization of new technology facilities in teaching and learning of business education programme the study after conclusion recommended among others: that government should provide adequate fund for the procurement of new technology facilities, that teachers should also upgrade their skills on the new method of instruction for effective utilization of these technologies in teaching and learning.
