DISTANCE LEARNING AND THE CHANGING ROLE OF THE TEACHER
Abstract
With the development of information technologies, distance education programmes are increasing across the world. Teachers play very important roles in providing high quality instructions for students. Hence, this paper discusses distance education, its potentials and the changing roles of a teacher from multiple perspectives. Recommendation were made that teachers should be trained and
prepare to perform multiple roles while teaching. This could lead to improvement in the quality of distance education, its assessment and evaluation in the future.
