INTEGRATION OF NEW TECHNOLOGIES IN TEACHING BUSINESS EDUCATION COURSES IN UNIVERSITIES IN THE E-WORLD

Abstract

This study was carried out in public universities in Enugu State to determine the ratings of business educators 'on the factors constraining integration of new technologies in teaching business education courses in the e-world. The researchers utilized survey research design. The population comprised 20 business educators in the two public universities offering business education programme in Enugu State. Two research questions were answered by the study while two null hypotheses were tested at 0.05 level of significance. The instrument used for data collection was a structured questionnaire developed by the researchers. The instrument was validated by experts from the Faculty of Education, Enugu State Universities of Science and Technology. Mean and standard deviation were used to answer the research questions while t-test was used to test the hypotheses. The results obtained from the study revealed that non availability of new technology tools and lack of competencies on the part of business educators constrain integration of new technologies in teaching business education to a high extent. Based on the findings of the study, the researchers recommended that business educators should up-grade their skills/competencies on how to integrate new technologies in teaching and also the three arms of the Government should consider funding of business education programme in Universities a top priority considering the roles it plays in national development.
