BUSINESS EDUCATION AND CLOUD COMPUTING: PROSPECTS AND CHALLENGES
Abstract
This study investigated Business Education and Cloud Computing: Problems and Challenges in Abia State, Nigeria. A total of 228 respondents; comprising of 203 Business Education final year students (both Degree and NCE) plus 25 Business Educators from four tertiary institutions were used for the study. The study is a descriptive study guided by three research questions and three null hypotheses. Data was collected using a structured questionnaire constructed on a four-point scale. The instrument was face-validated and a reliability coefficient of 0.87 was established. Data collected were analyzed using Mean (Ẋ) and Standard Deviation (SD) to answer the research questions while the t-test statistics was used to test the hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. The findings revealed that both groups of respondents (Educators and Students) agreed that Cloud Computing can be effectively applied with immense benefits in various aspects of Business Education; though this is presently faced with various challenges. There was no significant difference between the mean ratings of Business Educators and of students in each case, therefore the three null hypotheses were upheld. Recommendations include that government, institutions as well as Educators and students should intensify efforts towards upgraded ICT skills, competencies and versatility for a sustainable and re-branded Business Education.
