UTILIZATION OF INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY (ICT) IN TEACHING AND LEARNING OF BUSINESS SUBJECTS IN JUNIOR SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN DELTA, STATE

Abstract

The study investigated the utilization of Information and Communication (ICT) in teaching and learning of business subjects in junior secondary schools in Delta State, Selected public school from Oshimili, Uvwie, and Warri Local Government were used as a case study. The population and sample for the study were business subjects teachers and students from junior secondary schools, numbering

Three research questions and two hypotheses guided the study. Structured questionnaire was used to collect the data for the study. Mean and stranded deviation were utilize to answer the research questions, and t-test statistics was employed the test the hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. Some of the findings of the study include the unavailability and non-utilization of information and communication technologies required for teaching and learning in business subjects in junior secondary schools in Delta State. Other findings were the level of infrastructural decay and the existence of several barriers capable of militating against the teaching and learning of ICT in business subjects. The study therefore recommended that governments at all levels; stakeholders and beneficiaries of business education programme should be made to fund the provision of adequate and functional ICT facilities. It was also recommended that adequate infrastructure should be provided. The identified barriers militating against the teaching and learning of ICT in business studies in senior secondary schools in Delta State should to removed.
