CHAPTER NINE: SIMPLIFIED APPROACH IN TEACHING AND LEARNING OF FLUTE IN CHARLES DALE MEMORIAL INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL, PORT-HARCOURT

Abstract

Teaching and learning generally involve a systematic approach; it is the application of these approaches that aid learning. Teaching and learning of flute is not an exemption here.This study seeks to unfold some simplified approaches in teaching and learning of flute in Charles Dale Memorial International School Port Harcourt. This paper adopted a survey research design method where a group of people were picked and studied to represent the entire population. The theoretical framework is based on the theory of experiential learning by Carl Rogers.The population of the study comprises twenty (20)students selected from the four classes of JSS 1. Data were gathered by observation method and the result of the study agrees with Carl Rogers's first approach to experiential learning that all humans have a natural desire to learn therefore failure to learn is not due to the person's inability to learn but rather to problems with the learning situation. In conclusion, the study recommends that teachers should take into account the learning styles and abilities of the students and design lessons that appeal to diverse learners.
